How to rent a dumpster
Five steps from the first call to the truck pulling away. Each one flags what can add to the bill.
Mon-Fri 6am-5pm, Sat 7am-12pmHere is how to rent a dumpster from RO RO Rentals: call or text (843) 284-3707 with the address, what you are tossing, and the day you need it. We drop the can, you load it no higher than the top rail, and you call when it is ready to go.
Five steps. Each one flags what can add to the bill.
What it costs to rent a dumpster
One size. One price. A 15-yard roll-off is $499 flat. That covers delivery, 7 days, up to 2 tons of disposal, and pickup.
Three things add to it:
- Weight over 2 tons: $85 per ton, billed off the certified landfill scale ticket.
- Days past 7 days: $10 per day.
- An additional haul: $300.
Every rate is on the dumpster rental prices page.
Step 1: Call or text with the details
Have this ready before you reach out:
- The address. Where the can goes, not where the bill goes.
- What you are tossing. Garage junk, a roof, a kitchen tear-out, broken concrete. Weight and the material rules both ride on it.
- The day you need it. Pick the day you are ready to load. Rental time starts on the confirmed delivery date and time, not the day you start throwing.
- Where you want it placed. Be specific. “Left side of the driveway, close to the garage” beats “out front.”
- Gate codes and access notes. Community gates, locked fences, a dog in the yard, a neighbor who parks in the way.
If you are not sure the pile fits, text a photo of it to (843) 284-3707. You get a straight answer.
Step 2: Prep the drop spot
The truck needs a clear path in and a clear spot to set the can down. Before delivery day:
- Move vehicles. Cars, trailers, boats, bikes.
- Clear obstacles. Trash bins, planters, hoses, yard furniture. Anything in the path or on the spot.
- Look up. A roll-off truck tilts its bed to set the can down. Overhead wires and low branches over the drive or the drop spot get in the way. Tell us about them.
- Call out tight turns and gates. Narrow entries, sharp corners, a gate that swings the wrong way, a street lined with parked cars. Better we hear it on the phone than find it from the cab.
Clear access and accurate placement instructions are on you. Blocked access at delivery or pickup may bring a trip charge or a rescheduling fee. Clearing the spot the night before costs you nothing.
Step 3: Private property or the street
Private property. Your driveway, your yard, a job site you control. Usually no permit needed. The simple route. Setup details are in putting a dumpster in your driveway.
Public street. Street placement may need a permit, depending on your city or county. If one is required, getting it is on you. Handle it before delivery day, not after the can is at the curb.
Step 4: Load it right
The can is yours to fill for 7 days. Load it so it can be hauled.
- Nothing above the top rail. Debris cannot go above the top rail. Fill to the rail and stop.
- Heavy debris low and spread out. Concrete, brick, tile, dirt, and shingles go on the floor, spread across the can. Do not pile them at one end. Heavy materials may require a lower fill level.
- Break it down. Flatten boxes. Take furniture apart. Cut long boards down. Empty air in the can is space you paid for and lost.
- Watch the weight. $499 covers 2 tons. Past that it is $85 per ton. Every load is weighed at the disposal facility. The bill comes off the certified scale ticket, not off how full the can looks.
What stays out
- Hazardous waste of any kind
- Liquids, oils, fuels, chemicals, and solvents
- Paints, stains, and sealants that are liquid or partly liquid
- Asbestos
- Medical or biohazard waste
- Propane tanks, aerosols, gas cylinders, and other pressurized containers
- Tires, batteries, and automotive fluids
- Refrigerators, freezers, and appliances that hold refrigerant
- Electronics and e-waste, unless approved first
Restricted materials go in only with prior approval, and they may need special handling or extra charges. Get the approval before delivery. A load with prohibited material may be refused. Fines, cleanup, and special disposal charges land on you. The full list lives in the prohibited and restricted materials policy.
Step 5: Call for pickup
When the can is loaded, call or text (843) 284-3707 and say it is ready. Pickup is already in the $499.
- Ask early if you have a deadline. Pickup timing depends on routing, location, and availability. If it has to be gone by a set day, put that request in writing, by text or the quote form, as early as you can.
- Keep the path clear. Same as delivery. A blocked can at pickup may bring a trip charge or a rescheduling fee.
- It is yours until it leaves. You are responsible for the dumpster until it is physically removed.
- More days cost $10 per day. Extensions depend on scheduling, so request them early. The rental extension policy covers how it works.
If the job outgrows one can, an additional haul is $300. Say so when you call.

Questions we get
How much does it cost to rent a dumpster?
At RO RO Rentals, a 15-yard roll-off is $499 flat with delivery, 7 days, up to 2 tons of disposal, and pickup included. Past that, weight is $85 per ton, extra days are $10 per day, and an additional haul is $300.
When does a dumpster rental period start?
On the confirmed delivery date and time. You get 7 days from there, and extra days are $10 per day. The dumpster is your responsibility until it is physically removed.
Do I need a permit to rent a dumpster?
Not usually, if it sits on your driveway or other private property. On a public street you may need one, depending on your city or county. If a permit is required, getting it is on you, so handle it before delivery day.
What happens if the truck cannot get to the drop spot?
A blocked delivery or pickup may bring a trip charge or a rescheduling fee. Tell us about gates, tight turns, wires, and low branches when you book, and clear the path before the truck arrives.
How do I schedule dumpster pickup?
Text or call (843) 284-3707 once the can is loaded. Timing depends on routing, location, and availability. If it has to be gone by a certain day, send that request by text or the quote form early so it is on record.
