A lot of the houses here are new. The town’s 2024 comprehensive plan says new building effectively doubled the town’s housing stock in about 20 years, driven by modern subdivisions such as Foxbank and Cypress Preserve.⁠2 If yours has an HOA or POA, read its rules before delivery.

The street is a hard call here. Moncks Corner Code Sec. 32-4 makes it unlawful to leave articles on town streets or sidewalks for more than six hours, or to place a box, crate or other obstruction on a street or sidewalk and leave it there at night. The section has no permit exception.⁠3 A rental runs 7 days. On the street, that is a dumpster out every night. Whether a roll-off counts is the town’s call. Ask before delivery.

The town takes encroachment permit applications online. The listed types are Driveway, Fence, Pipe Drainage Easement, Landscape and Other.⁠4 Dumpster is not on the list. Filing under Other is not a yes.

Not every street in town is the town’s. Roads here may be maintained by the town, Berkeley County or SCDOT, and the town tells residents to check the “Street Maintenance” layer in Berkeley County GIS.⁠5

What town pickup will not take

Moncks Corner will not pick up construction and demolition debris, such as doors, windows or lumber.⁠9 It will not collect shingles, ceramic tile, bricks or concrete blocks, concrete or asphalt, or dirt. Contractors haul off their own waste.⁠10

Bulk pickup runs Wednesdays. Book it with Town Hall by 3:00 p.m. Tuesday. Two items per week, max.⁠11

For C&D, the town points residents to the convenience center at the Berkeley County Landfill on Oakley Road, which has dumpsters for it.⁠9 County centers serve Berkeley County residents only, and staff check ID.⁠12 A roll-off sits on your driveway for 7 days and leaves full.
